What exactly is my matrilineal line? Do I have it and will cortisone cream clear it up?

Lowery Family

I stopped by Just Folks blog and read Dana’s post with a lot of interest. Dana wrote her blog post after reading Randy Seaver’s Saturday Night Genealogy Fun– List Your Matrilineal Line(s). Now they also added mitochondrial DNA testing, and which Haplogroup you are into the mix but I’m not there yet. So I just went with listing my matrilineal line. (I also had to look that word up to!!)

So this is my matrilineal line:

1. Cynthia J Frueh – yours truly! 🙂
2. Dorothea F Lowery (1919 Allen County OH – 1998 Allen County OH) married John D. Frueh
3. Gladys B. Marshall (1892 Allen County OH – 1967 Lucas County OH) married Basil R. Lowery
4. Mary Ellen Williams (1871 Allen County OH – 1908 Allen County OH) married George S. Marshall
5. Rebecca Holmes (1833 Tuscarawas County OH – 1916 Allen County OH) married Issac Williams
6. Margaret Junkins (1898 PA – 1898 Allen County OH) married William Holmes
7. Elizabeth Walker (1788 DE – 1864) married Joseph Junkins

My matrilineal line through my father is:

1. Cynthia J Frueh
2. John D. Frueh (1911 Allen County OH – 1997 Allen County OH) married Dorothea F. Lowery
4. Flora A. Nantz (1888 Van Wert County OH – 1932 Allen County OH) married C.V. Frueh
3. Irene L. Waller (1871 Van Wert County OH – 1927 Allen County OH) William A. Nantz
4. Susannah Henney (1837 Stark County OH – 1900 Van Wert County OH) married Elijah Waller
5. Mary Sands (1812 PA – 1868 Van Wert County OH) married William Henney
6. Mary Plank (?? – ??) married William Sands

My matrilineal line through my maternal grandfather is:

1. Cynthia J Frueh
2. Dorothea F. Lowery (1919 Allen County OH – 1998 Allen County OH) married John D. Frueh

4. Sudie L. Barron (1874 Henry County OH – 1943 Lenawee County MI) marries Charles Lowery
5. Rachel C. Golding (1837 Cambridgeshire England – 1893 Henry County OH) married Thomas Barron
6. Mary Coleback (1815 Cambridgeshire England – 1874 Henry County OH) marries Abraham Golding
7. Sarah Ledgar (?? England – ??) William Coleback

My matrilineal line through my paternal grandfather is:

1. Cynthia J Frueh
2. John D. Frueh (1911 Allen County OH – 1997 Allen County OH) married Dorothea F. Lowery
3. C. V. Frueh (1881 Colmar Germany – 1964 Allen County OH) married Flora A Nantz
4. Josephine Guellbert ( 1849 Moir France – 1926 Allen County OH) married Adolph Frueh

Now let me tell you I was really surprised at how little info I have on some of these lines. In a comment I left for Dana I said, “I’m used to seeing the names in a pedigree chart but this list really shows some of the holes I have in my history. Places where I should concentrate my research.

My thanks to Randy and Dana! Boy do I have some work to do!

  1. Your ancestors in the female line are the only one’s you are truly sure about. A female ancestor may have been raped or may have had an affair, so the males may not be the one’s that are officially recorded, but your female line has certainty.
