My sister Betsy, my genealogy buddy, made a fabulous discovery!!! She was using Ancestry.com’s  free International Immigration records,  available Aug. 29 to Sept. 5 and guess what she found!

Only – our great grandparents on the passenger list of the Pennland, with my 6 yr old grandfather listed. They left the port of St. Kitts and arrived in New York  31 Dec 1889. Yay!! Yay!! Yay!!

Their last name is written as Fruh with the two dots ( or diaeresis) above the letter “u” but they were listed as Frieh. Also my great grandfather was Adolph but it was spelled Adolf on the passenger list. My sister’s diligence and attention to spelling variations paid off!

What doors this opens!! But you know that already!  🙂  Hip – Hip – Hooray!! and forward we go!!
