31 Weeks to a Better Blog

Genealogy Circle LogoI mentioned a couple of posts ago that I had come across a fabulous genealogy blog – Tonia’s Roots. Lots of great info! Right now she has an ongoing weekly exercise – 31 Weeks to a Better Genealogy Blog.

The tips Tonia suggest comes from ProBlogger, Darren Rowse and his book. You can check her site for a better description and purchase info on Darren’s book.

Each Sunday Tonia posts her take on a chapter from Darren’s book, including at least one action item (which may have a genea-blogger twist). I’m six weeks late, but jumping in now and plan to follow along. It’s never too late to work on a better blog.

My homework for the first week? Get Connected on Twitter. Yay! I already am! If you’d like to follow me there’s a Twitter follow button on the right. I’d love to have you along for the ride! The hashtag for this challenge is #31WBGB. That way you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Next Grab the badge: Tell your readers that you are building a better genealogy blog by displaying the button on your website. They might want to play, too!

Each blogger has the option to buy Darren’s book and also leave a comment on Tonia’s blog outlining how they completed the week’s homework. It’s fun to see the different posts and find new blogs.

So now you know what I’m up to, what the 31 badge is about and hopefully you’ll see a better blog!  Stay tuned!
